First trip to the dentist

Amelia had her first trip to the dentist today! She was amazing, lying in the chair the entire time quietly with her little mouth wide open. I couldn’t believe my eyes. The results were great, too. Her teeth look good (no cavities!) and all we need to do is step up the brushing and start flossing at night. Flossing should be fun. Anyway, it was crazy to see her in that chair. She’s all growns up!

Sylvie Milestones

Sylvie’s had a few cool moments recently.

1. Last night I came home and noticed she was putting a straw into the cap of a sippy cup. This is the first time I saw her putting two pieces together.

2. She’s starting to fill in words, albeit with somewhat mumbled pronunciation, when we read her books. During Going to Bed book she says “exercise!” Last night I was reading Where the Wild Things Are and Amelia told me “Daddy you don’t rawr because it scares me.” When I got to the point where I normally let loose a huge rawr, I paused and Sylvie gave us a little Sylvie rawr from her crib. Go bug!

3. Sometimes she eats with a spoon. Most of the time not!

Church Guy, Spelling, and Math

Talking about church with Amelia yesterday, she noted that church is very quiet but the “church guy is very loud.” The church guy being the priest of course.

Another notable moment, this morning she spelled dog, cat, dad, pad, wig and various other 3-letter words. She’s also adding with her fingers!

Sylvie is cruising down the slide in the living room like it’s going out of style.

Quote of the big day. We’re sitting in the kitchen (mom, dad, Jana, me, Sylvie) and Amelia walks in and says, “Hey, guys! Today was a great day for you to come over for my birthday!”

Can’t believe she’s 3. In other news, looks like the Quinns are batting a solid .750 with allergies. Little Sylvie tested positive for a severe peanut allergy yesterday. We gotta find an allergy for Jana to make it an even 1.000!

Sylvie walked up to Amelia yesterday and gave her a solid two handed push in the chest. Amelia was, needless to say, a bit taken aback, but did not fall. So, Sylvie tried again! Payback’s a b*tch.
